ORIGIN:
Service International de Documentation Judéo-Chrétienne
(International Jewish-Christian Documentation Service) is a Center for
study and documentation founded in Rome in 1965 at the request of a group
of experts of the Second Vatican Council, following its promulgation of
Nostra Aetate, the Declaration on the Relationship of the Church to Non-Christian
Religions.
AIMS:
To promote understanding and respect between Jews and Christians;
To make known the heritage which Christianity and Western culture have received from the Jewish people;
To encourage the study of Jewish tradition and emphasize its importance for Christianity and for all humanity.
MEANS:
The organization of courses, lectures and national and international conferences on religious and cultural topics of Jewish-Christian interest;
A specialized library and a documentation service;
Collaboration with other Jewish-Christian bodies and with persons who have the same aim;
The publication of the SIDIC periodical in English and in French
three times per year, with articles by Jewish and Christian authors. The
Review cannot be sold but is sent to those who contribute to the activities
of the SIDIC Center.
