F: 1963 A: Ecumenical: 7 sponsoring Churches. It is
a national organization. N: The Center is involved in many
aspects of ecumenism (interchurch relations), but the primary focus of its work
and mission might best be understood within the broad context of what ecumenists
call "reception", which means to make the fruit of the high-level theological
agreements and accords known and "owned" by "ordinary" people in a way which influences
their day-to-day lives and relationships. Its primary work and focus can thus
be understood in terms of facilitating reception, among clergy certainly, and
among the broader membership of the churches they serve. The Center accomplishes
this through prayer and sharing of spiritual riches, education and formation,
dialogue. Person-to-person contact remains the most important dimension of its
work and mission. The Center is governed by ecumenical Board of Directors, including
among others national representatives of 7 Canadian Churches officially named
by the Heads of those Churches. The Center has limited space for hosting lectures
