The Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement, whose Motherhouse is at Graymoor, Garrison, New York, arrived in the Monte del Gallo section of Rome on October 15, 1936 to serve the local people in this poor area. During the early years, always responding to the needs of the times, the Sisters' ministries continued to evolve.
During the Jubilee Year of 1950 and in response to the Vatican's request for religious communities to open their convents to pilgrims coming to Rome, a section of the house was set aside for this purpose. After this time guest house ministry became a major focus of the Sisters.
Today the Sisters welcome pilgrims of different faiths, countries and continents to their home with modest single, double and triple accommodations that include bathroom facilities.
Our Lady of the Atonement guest house offers you a panoramic view of the dome of St. Peter's Basilica which may be enjoyed from the terrace, sitting room, and some bedrooms. The lovely Church of Mary Immaculate provides a space for group and personal prayer and the liturgy is celebrate daily.
