Built
in 1917 as a modest cottage and small hospital (although it never functioned
as a hospital), the edifice expanded into Our Lady's Guest and Retreat House,
a three-story building containing 35 bedrooms, a homey dining room and a
cozy lounge. The large stained glass window of St. Michael the Archangel
in the lounge is a memorial to Sr. Mary Anna Walker, daughter of Civil War
General John G. Walker, and the first Sister of the Atonement to die. |
