On
July 27, 1900, underneath a white tent left over from the Spanish American
War, Father Paul made his vows of poverty, chastity and obedience on this
spot. The Profession ceremony was the fulfillment of the words, "You
will have to wait seven years before this Society becomes a fact,"
which he had heard in prayer seven years earlier, when he discovered the
name for the Society he and Mother Lurana would found. The site is now marked
with a roofed stone shrine to Our Lady of the Atonement. |
